A CARE home has released new guidance around self-isolation for residents after seeing friends and family.

The Old vicarage in Allithwaite is asking visitors to take a lateral flow test before and after taking residents out the home.

The announcement comes after rules were eased around self-isolating following care home visits.

A spokesman said: "We haven't received much guidance yet, but based on what we have received, here is information for family members and friends. Residents can go out accompanied either by a care staff member or one or both of the nominated visitors. They can go on outings or to the gardens of the nominated person. They can't go inside except to go to the bathroom.

"We would ask that the nominated person(s) taking them out have had an LFD test that day. We will also ask the resident to take an LFD test on their return. Hopefully these relaxations are the first step on the road back to normal conditions."
