Like many villages in South Lakeland, there is a strong sense of community spirit in Allithwaite.

Located just over a mile west of Grange-over-Sands, that spirit has shown itself over the years in the effort that local people have put into staging Allithwaite Carnival.

In July 1991, the weather was kind, with sunshine blazing down on the playing fields during the afternoon.
