MORE than two thirds of adults in Barrow and Furness have received at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine.

The latest NHS data showed that more than 47,000 people in the constituency had received the jab.

It marks a milestone in the vaccination process, whose rapid progress through the age groups has slowed to prioritise older and more clinically vulnerable people.

At a district level, nearly two-thirds of people in the Barrow borough have received their first dose.

NHS data shows 35,937 people had received a vaccine jab by April 18 – 65 per cent of those aged 16 and over, according to the latest population estimates from the Office for National Statistics.

Of those vaccinated, 27,809 were aged 50 and over – 96 per cent of the age group.

It means 8,128 people aged between 16 to 49 have received a first dose of the vaccine.

The data also reveals variation in coverage between different areas across Barrow.

The proportion of residents prioritised for vaccinations, such as those aged 50 and over, is one factor that could affect vaccine coverage.

2) Dalton South, 71.1 per cent

3) Roose, 69.6 per cent

A small number of people are not included due to their age being unknown.
