A CARE company has managed to raise hundreds of pounds after taking part in an icy internet challenge.

On Sunday staff from MSH Care in Dalton plunged their feet in freezing buckets of ice for 92 seconds as part of the #IceFoot92 challenge, which aims to highlight and raise funds to support the work MND Association does to help those with motor neurone disease.

“It was a really good turnout,” said Michelle Stokes, client liaison manager. “We were well support by the local community and raised £370 on the day.”

The challenge has so far raised £500, not including the amount that MSH will donate.

“We even had two passing managers Jamie and Des, that we got to join in from BAE and a local business owner Gary from Dalton Motor Parts and the Vape Bar in Dalton,” said Ms Stokes.

“The staff were loudly supported by the customers outside of the Wellington pub and they happily donated to our collection fund as did the new owners.”

Asda provided the participants with ice, towels, tea and coffee, and Grange Bakery gave wrapped sandwiches and cakes.

Ms Stokes added: “Carers from the company joined the office staff to support us in this chosen charity event and we couldn't have been prouder as they did this between working and one of our carers, a walker, didn't tell anyone she was coming and arrived having been sponsored by a service user to take part.”
