THE MUM of a family who were tragically killed on Father's Day has spoken out in an emotional tribute following the sentencing of their killer.

David Logan, 48, of Broughton Road, Dalton, was jailed yesterday for 10 years and 10 months for causing the deaths of Joshua Flynn, 37, and his children Coby-Jay, 15, and Skylar, 12.

The family were out on a Father's Day walk in June last year when Logan ploughed into them, also killing their Yorksire Terrier Toby.

Wife and mum Emma Flynn recalled the day she left for work, not realising it would be the final time she saw her family alive.

In her victim statement she said: “That day, the day it happened, was just a normal day. I went off to work leaving Josh, Coby, Skylar and Troy to spend the day together.

“I did not know that when I left them, that it would be the last time I saw my family alive, the last time that my life was normal.

“I'll never get the chance to hug and kiss them again, laugh with them, have tea with them, spend days away or at home with them. I'll never get the chance to say good morning or good night, I'll never hear my children or husband say "I love you" ever again.

“My heart is broken, and nothing will fix it, the day they died is the day my life stood still".

In tribute to them all the family said: “From the minute we received this terrible news our whole world has been turned upside down and no words can describe how devastated we are feeling. We are utterly heart broken and upset by the loss of Joshua, Coby-Jay and Skylar.

“We would like to thank everyone for their kind messages of support, the cards and donations received.

“Joshua was a family man and a good guy. He would do absolutely anything for anyone and was a genuine, lovely man. He was a loving husband and doting Dad.

“Joshua was fitness mad and loved going to the gym and exercising.

“Coby-Jay was a typical teenager, obsessed with computers and computer games in particular his Nintendo.

“He was a lovely young man, kind, happy and upbeat.

“Skylar like any young girl at the moment was Tik Tok mad. Like her brother, she enjoyed playing on computer games in particular Roblox - exchanging pets.

“She was always so happy with a lovely smile on her face.”

The beloved family dog, Troy, a Yorkshire terrier also died, he was described as ‘another member of the family, such a good and well-behaved lad’, his loss is also felt.

The Flynn family have requested their privacy is respected at this time.
