A CYCLIST was rushed to hospital after falling off his bike in the Duddon Valley.
Cumbria Police called Duddon and Furness Mountain Rescue Team around 2.30 yesterday afternoon following a report that a road cyclist had come off their bike on the Hardknott Pass near Cockley Beck whilst taking part in a cycling sportive.
Once on site, the rescue team assisted the event paramedic and a North West Ambulance Service paramedic crew with packaging the cyclist, and then carrying them on a stretcher back to the road side.
Crews then carried the cyclist a short way down the pass to an awaiting ambulance for transfer to hospital.
The team would like to wish the injured cyclist a swift recovery.
Members then returned to base to decontaminate the vehicles and kit.
18 team members responded, with the incident lasting around two and a half hours.
