A TOWN council is calling for more police presence after a park was vandalised with 'foul' graffiti.

Millom Town Council is urging anyone with information to come forward after damage was carried out in the Haverigg Park area.

A large group of people was spotted congregating around the park by witnesses.

Millom Town Council reported that a swing has been broken and damage has been attempted to some of the fencing surrounding the park area.

As well as this, graffiti with foul language has been written on both sides of the shelter block.

The town council has asked for more police presence in the area to try and combat any further damage.

A spokesman said: "It has come to the attention of the town council that damage has been carried out in the Haverigg Park area."
