A TRIO of Barrow artists are preparing to drop their latest EP tomorrow, with a nod to the towns football talent.

JD, Swerve and Getso have produced the three track drill album with the hopes to turn around negative views of the genre by using the style to promote the local area and celebrate ‘The Prem’.

The title track, The Prem, is a nod to both Barrow AFC’s rise to league two, coinciding with the artists themselves going up a league, gaining fans far and wide.

JD said: “I’ve been to a couple Barrow AFC matches and I think it was more we needed to showcase the town.

“We could have travelled to any football stadium to do it but the fact Barrow has recently been promoted, the stadiums been renovated, it was just the perfect opportunity to work in partnership with them.

“The sample we use in The Prem is a commentary from a football game, the FA Trophy Final when Jason Walker scored the winning goal and it says ‘Barrovian bedlam, the local boy has done it!’ We put that in the track to give it that energy and it was only right to be at the Barrow stadium.”

Gospel Freestyle, a track on the EP, was partially filmed at St James’ church of of Hartington Street. Whilst track ‘Great District’, which is yet to be filmed, will show off the great locations around the Lake District.

Contrasting with St James’ church in the trios music video is St Cuthberts in Aldingham, Ulverston. JD said: “We really want to showcase our home and local areas to the world. We chose these two locations because of their contrast, on the coast road and central Barrow."

Swerve said: “Recently we’ve branched out with a lot of communal stuff happening in the town, working with community groups and local charities. It turned into us wanting to represent the town more. There’s so much going on here but it’s below the surface, so we’re trying to bring it to the surface.”

The Prem will launch tomorrow.
