POLICE are reminding e-scooter users to make themselves fully aware of the rules before riding the streets.

With the introduction of e-scooters in Copeland as part of a Government initiative, officers are reminding people to make themselves fully aware of the rules when hiring scooters and ensure they have read the terms and conditions.

A spokesman said: "These scooters are not permitted to be used on pavements and the fact that riders are required to have a full UK driving or provisional licence and be aged 18 or over.

"We would like to make people aware that it is an offence for them to provide their driving licence details in order to hire a scooter out for a person under 18 or for a person without a driving licence and they may be liable for prosecution if found to have permitted this to happen."
