READERS of The Mail have reacted after the UK's health secretary Matt Hancock praised Barrow.

In a letter addressed to Barrow MP Simon Fell, Mr Hancock lauded the area's vaccination programme.

One reader agreed with the health secretary and believes the Barrow and Millom Primary Care Network are doing a good job.

They said: "I had my vaccination recently, and this was extremely well-organised by the rotary club and medical staff who went above and beyond."

Another reader, Colin Hingley, added: "I agree with him, Barrow has been outstanding in the way they have organised their vaccine programme, I went myself last Saturday and thought the whole process was very well done, congratulations to all involved."

Stephen Le Jay commented: "They seem to be doing brilliantly, well done to all and Debbie for my jab. Felt all fine afterwards no sore arm etc. Keep up the good work and ready for second jab when called for."

"Never mind the praise get the second jabs done now, praise never saved lives," Brian Geldart said.

Mr Hancock wrote to Mr Fell: "I am delighted to inform you that Barrow Millom PCN is one of the best performing Covid vaccination teams in the country, with the highest total number of vaccinations in cohorts one-six of any PCN in Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust."

This comes just days after Barrow and Millom PCN celebrated their best day of vaccinations yet, with a record 1,900 jabs given in one clinic and have now invited all over 50s for a jab.
