A FORMER town centre bar is due to go under the hammer.

The Knights in Barrow has been refurbished and is due to be sold.

The building, in Dalkeith Street, has a newly-fitted bar on the ground floor, while the upper floors could be used as housing.

Development is said to be part-finished.

The building will go up for sale at auction with a guide price of £150,000.

It was sold at auction for £65,000 in 2019.

The venue was initially put on the market for £225,000 but failed to attract a buyer.

A listing by SDL Property Auctions said: "A substantial three storied refurbished bar in a prime location benefitting from upper floors thought suitable for residential accommodation.

"The property comprises a three storey end of terrace building of brick construction.

"The building has undergone substantial refurbishment by the current owner.

"Externally work has been carried out to the walls and roof and new uPVC windows.

"Internally to the ground floor is a newly fitted bar including radiators, sunken lights, new floor and bar area, electrics, replastering and ceiling tiles.

"The first floor is configured with WCs and further function/office rooms with new laminate flooring, plastered walls and ceiling tiles.

"The second floor has additional office/function room space and again comprises laminate flooring and plastered walls.

"There is some snagging required to finish, however we feel the building would benefit from conversion to residential on the upper floors and this could be done with minimal effort and potentially to an house of multiple occupancy-style development both subject to obtaining appropriate planning consent."

The Knights was owned by Five (UK) Ltd which went into voluntary liquidation in March 2019.

The company also owned Dalton Road bar The Derby.

The auction will take place on April 29.
