COVID-19 is now 'suppressed' in most areas of Barrow, according to the latest data.

Cases plotted on a map show the areas where infection rates are rising and falling.

Just three areas in the borough have recorded more than three new cases, according to the latest data compiled by Public Health England.

Only Roose, Hindpool & Ormsgill and Abbotsmead & Salthouse are showing any cases.

That means the number of new cases in other areas could be as low as zero.

The highest weekly rolling rate is in Hindpool & Ormsgill, where a rate of 61.7 sits roughly around the national average.

It comes after four new cases were recorded in a week, a rise of 100 per cent from the previous seven days.

Abbotsmead & Salthouse had a rolling rate of 53.3, below the national average.

Four new cases were recorded, an increase in two new cases from the previous week.

Roose's infection rate stood at 52.4.

There were four new cases recorded in seven days there.

Eight new cases were recorded in the previous week.

Many of the areas in Barrow that had the worst infection rates at the height of the pandemic are now showing three or fewer cases.

These include Walney Island North and South, Barrow Central and Parkside.

Cases are also suppressed in most areas of South Lakeland.

These include Swarthmoor & Low Furness; Ulverston; Coniston, Broughton & Kirkby; Grange-over-Sands & Cartmel Peninsula; and Windermere North, Ambleside & Langdales.

A total of three cases were recorded in Hawkshead & Cartmel Fell, an increase of one new case from the previous week.

No new case are showing up on the map in the area of Millom and Duddon Valley.

The figures cover data in the seven days up to March 24.

New restrictions on meeting others outside came into effect on Monday. Organised outdoor sport is also allowed.
