MILLOM’S Waterloo House GP Surgery has confirmed it will soon be inviting over 60s for their Covid-19 vaccine.

Currently, the surgery is vaccinating residents in priority groups one to six.

This includes all those aged 65 and over, individuals aged between 16 and 64 with underlying health conditions, and frontline health and social care workers.

Eligible patients will now be invited to book their jab via text message, the surgery confirmed.

A link will be sent to an individual’s mobile phone, which will then allow them to book an appointment.

However, the surgery will contact those who do not have access to a mobile phone or cannot book through the link.

In a statement the surgery said: “As we have almost completed first vaccinations in priority groups 1-6 we will shortly be inviting those from group 7 aged 60-64. If anyone over 65 hasn’t had their first dose please contact the surgery.

“Once again we request that patients don’t contact the surgery to book their appointment and to wait for us to contact you as these calls block the phone lines for patients trying to access the surgery for medical needs.”

More than 22.5 million people in the UK have received a first dose.
