Pupils from Walney School have been taking part in Captain Tom’s 100 challenge to the delight of their teachers.
The 100 Challenge was inspired by Captain Tom’s incredible fundraising story, so people across the country were challenged to do 100 of absolutely anything. You could do 100 laps of your garden just like Tom, run or cycle 100km, host a 100-question virtual quiz, or try something different.
Walney School teacher Matt Adams said: “Before half term, Walney School students were set the Captain Tom 100 Challenge.
“To honour the passing of Captain Sir Tom Moore and his incredible achievement of walking 100 lengths of his garden, pupils were set the task of completing 100 of something.
“The response was fantastic, with students and staff uploading their different 100 challenges.
“We had 100 sit-ups, 100 times up and down the stairs, 100-second planks, 100km of running, and lots more.
“A big well done to everyone who took part. It was great to see so many of the pupils (and staff) engage with the 100 challenge and was fantastic to see everyone keeping positive and active, despite being in lockdown.
“To see a video compilation of the Captain Tom 100 Challenge, go to the Walney School Facebook page or the Walney School website.”
Captain Tom Moore famously completed his own fundraising challenge and raised more than £17 million for the NHS.
