A DALSTON man has been given a 14-month driving ban after he pleaded guilty to drink driving.
Neil Frazer, 61, of Nook Lane Close, committed the offence on January 23, Workington's Magistrates' Court was told.
At the time, he was driving a Ford Tourneo Custom at Ghyll Brow, Low Moresby.
A breath test, the court heard, showed that he had 47mcg of alcohol in 100mls of breath. The legal limit for driving is 35mcg.
After hearing an outline of the offence, and mitigation from defence lawyer Mike Woolaghan, magistrates imposed the driving ban.
They also ruled that Frazer should be fined £500 and should pay prosecution costs of £85, along with a victim surcharge of £50.
Magistrates offered the defendant the opportunity to take a drink driver rehabilitation course.
If completed before November 13, the course - costing no more than £250 - will earn him a 14 week reduction in the length of his ban.
The defendant's guilty plea was taken into consideration when imposing the sentence.
