A West Cumbrian schoolboy is braving the weather to do a solo run to raise money for Hospice at Home West Cumbria.

Sam Branney, from Egremont, signed up to the February Solo Run challenge and is already clocking up the miles and the pounds, having already hit his target of £500.

Sam said “Because of the pandemic I was missing being out and about playing sports and keeping active, so when I saw hospice at home advertising the February Solo Run challenge I thought it would give me something to focus on apart from school work, getting me out doing some exercise and also raising money for a fantastic local charity.”

A spokesman for the charity said: "Keep going Sam you are doing fantastic! We are all really proud of you and hugely appreciate your support." His JustGiving page is at: https://bit.ly/3u1ihQJ
