The impending opening of a Burger King fast food restaurant in Barrow left some readers excited and others concerned about traffic problems.

A drive-thru and restaurant is set to open at Hindpool Retail Park in mid-March.

Readers of The Mail had their say on the news that the chain will soon be opening its new branch.

Darren Kenney said: “Good to see Burger King coming back but its location will just add to the McDonald’s/KFC queuing chaos.

“Even though it’s a lot better organised than it was.”

Dave Roberts said: “What causes traffic problems is bad drivers.

“It’s got nothing to do with what type of business they may be attending or where that business might be.

“If forward planning, considerate positioning, consideration for other road users and adherence to the highway code are applied, there won’t be a problem.”

Samantha Brown said: “Not excited as I won’t be able to get in and out of work quickly.”

Angela Garnett said: “It’s going to be a nightmare, especially on Sunday mornings.

“Might be best to park in the back and walk round.”

Wayne Jackson said: “Glad we have got it but it will cause traffic problems.”

Barry Mcclure said: “Can’t wait, prefer Burger King over McDonald’s.”

Peter Forsyth said: “I soooooo love Burger King.”

Tom Duignan said: “They failed last time – looks like I picked the wrong week to give up burgers!”

Vanessa James said: “Can’t wait for a Whopper.”

Construction work, which has been under way for more than a year, is in the final stages.

Workers began transforming the site last year after it had been empty for a number of years since Frankie & Benny’s shut down.

The new restaurant features a drive-thru and outdoor seating area as well as a pedestrian entrance.

Burger King bosses have revealed the restaurant will bring 15 full-time jobs to the town and 25 in total.
