THE weekly total of people in the borough of Barrow who had died with Covid-19 mentioned on the death certificate stood at eight in the latest figures.

This was the total number of deaths during the week ending February 5, the latest date for which data is available.

That took the total number of deaths in the borough up to 188.

The weekly of number of deaths in South Lakeland for the week ending on the same date was 10, with the total number of deaths standing at 271.

In the borough of Barrow, the daily number of people who had tested positive, as reported yesterday, stood at 10.

The total number of people who had tested positive in the borough as of yesterday stood at 4,066.

In South Lakeland, the figures stood at 4 and 4,331 respectively.

In a statement posted to social media yesterday, Prime Minister Boris Johnson said more than 17.5 million people had now received their first doses of a vaccine against coronavirus.

“That’s more than one in three adults in the UK,” he said.

“I want to see the rollout go further and faster in the coming weeks, so we are now aiming to offer a jab to every adult by the end of July.”

As of Saturday, a total of 615,148 people had received a second dose of a vaccine against coronavirus.
