A Coastguard team was called out yesterday afternoon to reports of a sinking vessel in Walney Channel.

After conducting a pollution survey, Furness Coastguard discovered that, although the vessel was partially submerged, it was still secured to its mooring.

The owner of the boat soon arrived and revealed his intention was to survey the vessel at low tide with an attempt to re-float it.

A spokesperson from Furness Coastguard took the opportunity to still encourage people to think to call the Coastguard if they were concerned.

They said: “The team would like to thank the person who reported this.

“Remember, if in danger around the coast, or you think someone else is, dial #999 and ask for the Coastguard.”
