A BARROW school cook has told a special lockdown tale in a new ebook.

'One Day in Lockdown' shares the memories shared with her three children during one of the toughest times in their lives.

Emma Bateson, 32, is a kitchen team leader based at St Mary's School in Ulverston, and also a cook for Our Lady of The Rosary Catholic Primary School in Dalton said: "Through the first lockdown I tried to keep my three children busy doing crafts, baking, walking, reading, gardening anything I could think of really to keep them occupied and happy.

"I took photos of everything we did and thought about doing a scrap book or photo album as a keepsake for the kids to look back on, but there were hundreds of photos so I decided to pick some of my favourites and write a story about our time in lockdown for them to keep.

"My mum who has published two stories herself, read it once I had finished and said I should publish it, a lot of people will have had a lot of the same experiences and would be a good keepsake for other families to remember the good times in lockdown.

"I enjoyed doing it and it kept me occupied through the second lockdown, not being able to get out quite as much due to the colder darker days and my kids have got something to remind them of some of the good times we had through 2020."
