READERS got into a debate over what could be deemed 'local' under coronavirus guidelines after The Mail posted an article outlining several walking routes in Cumbria for them to try.
Hannah Barnes said: "Am I misunderstanding something here?
"Yes, we are in a lockdown but we don't live in the exact same one-mile square... these walks ARE local - if you live there... it's just another example of common sense being thrown out the window... if the walk isn't local to you - DON'T DO IT."
Pat Timewell said: "Surely it depends where you live?"
Sheila Rotherham said: "Cumbria is closed to non-residents. We will welcome you back as soon as the situation changes."
Adam Haines said: "If you live in Barrow, anywhere in Cumbria is local, so crack on."
Ryan Fegan said: "Comments on here just show how misunderstood the guidance actually is to be honest.
"Thank-you for sharing The Mail, people should get out, get fresh air, it's good for the mental health, stay in your bubbles and enjoy it."
Lynn Sandra Woodhouse said: "I thought we were in lockdown, and non-essential travel is banned?"
Chris Woodhouse: "Lynn Sandra Woodhouse, going for a walk is essential."
"Lynn Sandra Woodhouse: "Chris Woodhouse, yes but travelling to exercise isn't allowed."
Chris Woodhouse: "Lynn Sandra Woodhouse, isn't allowed by who? I go for a walk in the Lakes every opportunity.
"I see less people there then anywhere round here. It's my home."
