A YOGA teacher has expanded her therapy business by opening her new studio at Holker.

Katie Shaw has been treating clients requiring therapy and rehabilitation in the Grange-over-Sands area since 2012, when she qualified in sports therapy and rehabilitation.

Originating from her personal passion for yoga and Pilates, Ms Shaw gained her teaching diploma in yoga and Pilates in 2018, with an aim to offer a more hands-on and interactive style of yoga.

“It was always my dream and ultimate goal to have my own yoga studio alongside my therapy business," she said.

“I began searching for a new premises 12 months ago but as soon as I walked through the door of the Holker School House, I saw the potential.

"It had space for a yoga studio and a separate therapy room, with bags of character to boot.”

During lockdown, Ms Shaw has been running her popular yoga classes online on Monday evenings and Wednesday mornings but is looking forward to being able to hold them face-to-face again in her new studio.

This year, she plans to offer an enhanced programme of yoga and Pilates, introducing new beginners and intermediate yoga classes as well as core strength Pilates classes.

Additionally, Ms Shaw is welcoming other practitioners offering complimentary treatments or classes to work alongside her at the new centre.

Already, the businesswoman has welcomed a local GP who will offer pain-relieving cortisone injections along with a second yoga teacher, specialising in Yin and restorative-style yoga.
