A CRIME drama filmed in Morecambe aired the first episode of its second series last week - and Barrow got a special mention.

ITV's The Bay broadcast the first episode of the eagerly anticipated new series on Wednesday.

The series follows on from the dramatic finale of the first, which saw Morven Christie starring as Detective Sergeant Lisa Armstrong, suspended after hiding evidence from the investigation into the disappearance of twins.

In the episode the detectives are investigating the death of a man who was shot in front of his son by a contract killer.

The team search for the victims estranged daughter, who according to her mum, was employed at a scrapyard just outside of Barrow.

Detectives made their way to the scrapyard, coming across actress Amy James-Kelly as Grace Marshbrook who denies her involvement with the killing.

Carnforth also got a mention, with a Carnforth Meals on Wheels man parked outside the victims' fathers home.

The show had viewers head scratching as one character claimed he got from Barrow to Sunderland Point and back in 45 minutes, a journey that would take almost three hours by car.

Although based in Morecambe, during the filming of the first series of The Bay, a large number of police vehicles and actors in police uniforms were seen around Grange lido and on the promenade.

And leading lady Morven Christie is no stranger to Cumbria, also starring in BBC's The A Word, which features different areas of the Lake District including Coniston and Keswick.

Catch episodes of The Bay every Wednesday at 9pm January 20 on ITV, or catch up on ITV Hub.
