A TEENAGER from Windermere has been fined after being found guilty of drug driving in Kendal.

Joshua Michael Blezard, of Claife Avenue appeared at South Cumbria Magistrates' Court yesterday after driving under the influence of cannabis.

The 19-year-old was stopped by police on Gillingate Street in the early hours of July 1, 2020 where he was described as nervous , according to prosecution lawyer Rachel Ottley.

The court was told how police carried out a roadside test followed by a blood sample taken at the police station both testing positive for cannabis.

Defence solicitor Andy Gallagher said: "The defendant has said that he had not actually consumed cannabis the evening before, but it was the previous evening.

"He said he was nervous because he did not know the road layout and didn't know where he was going, he also is not used to being stopped by the police."

The court fined Blezard £250 and banned him form driving for 12 months. He also had to pay victim surcharge of £34 and court costs of £85, bringing the total he had to pay to £369.
