Mansfield boss Nigel Clough says his side will be going all out to win a fifth game on the spin against table-topping Carlisle United.

The Stags chalked up their fourth consecutive league victory at Oldham on Wednesday as they continued their revival under Clough.

Their last defeat was, in fact, against the Blues at Brunton Park on December 15, when Omari Patrick’s goal earned Chris Beech’s side a 1-0 win.

Since then Mansfield have taken 13 points from a possible 15.

Clough said in a club interview: “It [four successive league wins] is brilliant. We’re going to try and make it five against the league leaders.

“To win four games on the spin at this stage of the season is a brilliant achievement for the players.”

The 3-2 victory at Boundary Park saw Clough steer Mansfield into the top half of League Two.

He has lifted them up to 12th after taking charge in November, following the sacking of Graham Coughlan.

The experienced boss said he hopes to have James Perch and Ollie Clarke available this weekend after illness and injury respectively.

United’s opponents, who could include ex-Blues striker Andy Cook, are also hoping to add to their squad ahead of the game.
