A BARROW foodbank is offering support to families in South Cumbria to ensure that no child goes hungry.
Responding to widespread criticism of current free school meal parcels in the country, Barrow Foodbank are reminding struggling families in the community that help is always available.
Food parcels that were meant £30 have been valued at just £5 by shocked parents, offering a small amount of food to last each child for a 10 day period.
A spokesperson for Barrow Foodbank said: "There is currently a lot of coverage of inadequate food parcels being supplied by the Government as free school meal replacements. We want to remind everyone that we’re here to support those struggling in South West Cumbria including Barrow, Dalton, Ulverston, Askam & Millom. Clients can call us on 01229 343436 to discuss obtaining a voucher.
"We will work with our community to ensure no children go hungry."
