CUMBRIA Trading Standards have warned the public of a fake HMRC text scam that attempts to steal credit card details.
This is yet another scam which has been warned about in recent times with the body responsible for car tax and vehicle licensing also warning drivers to be on the lookout for new phishing scams yesterday.
Cumbria Trading Standards said on Facebook: "Beware of fake HMRC text messages that state you're entitled to a grant, a tax refund or rebate due to lockdown.
"They link to a fake website created to look similar to the gov website. The website asks for card details to claim the grant or refund.
"Forward scam texts to 7726."
