READERS have voiced their thoughts after a group of lockdown rule breakers were slapped with fines worth thousands of pounds after travelling to Ulverston for a New Year's Eve party.

A total of 11 Fixed Penalty Notices (FPN) were issued by Cumbria Police on New Year's Eve - ten of which were handed to a group of people who had travelled from Merseyside to Ulverston.

Alan Davis said: "Name and shame these selfish people."

Glenn Athersmith said: "Lock them up."

Christine Parmenter said: "It amazes me why people continue to break rules. Selfish!"

Joanne Worrall said: "They are idiots and very selfish, should have been fined more. Anyone who thinks its ok to do what they did should try working on a Covid ward. I hope the property owner was fined too."

Sylvia Stoker said: "Cumbria has a huge rate of infection because of many idiots like this who selfishly put their own entertainment before the safety of others. I am sick of them."
