A COASTGUARD team has dealt with more than 100 suspicious items on beaches over the past year.
Millom Coastguard Rescue Team has revealed that it has responded to over 100 suspicious items on beaches, been involved in eight searches, two incidents involving animals, three mud incidents, three incidents involving vehicles either on the beach, in water or mud.
They have also assisted other authorities on four occasions, including responding to call outs of people cut off by the tide or in the water on four occasions, vessels adrift, sinking or aground on four occasions and have been tasked to incidents on Coniston Water and Windermere.
The crew has thanked the dedication and commitment of its team over a 'very demanding' year.
A spokesman said: "As the New Year approaches the Station Officer would like to take this opportunity to thank the team for all of their hard work, dedication and commitment during what has been a very demanding time."
