A date has been set for the major refurbishment of a children’s playpark.

The revamp of the St George’s Road park in Millom will begin on January 4, when it will be given a whole new look after receiving just over £200,000 in funding from Copeland Council.

The park will include state-of-the-art climbing towers and slides, group swings and spinning equipment to entertain the children of Millom for years to come.

From January 4 the current playpark will be closed off for safety.

A spokesperson for Millom Town Council said: “The gates closest to Lowther Road will be closed for the duration of the development.

"Some equipment will be delivered over the coming week in preparation for the work starting in the new year.

"This will be monitored on our new CCTV and we’d urge everyone to please stay away from this equipment.”
