A WOMAN has died at the age of 71 following a serious crash in Windermere.

Following a serious road traffic collision that occurred on Friday, December 4.

Police can confirm the woman has sadly died in hospital.

The collision occurred at the junction of Ellerthwaite Road and New Road in Windermere at around 8.45pm.

It involved a Red Citroen C3 and two Pedestrians, a man and a woman from Hexham.

The man and woman were taken to Preston Royal Hospital.
As a result of her injuries, the woman died on the evening of Wednesday 16th December 2020. She has been formally identified as Olwyn Mary Kirkby aged 71 from Hexham.

The family have been informed and a Family Liaison Officer has been appointed.

Cumbria Constabulary said: "The man is making a good recovery. The driver of the car was uninjured and is assisting police with enquires.
