Cumbria County Council will be carrying out roadworks worth £300,000 in a town.

Work will be carried out to replace worn-out sections of road with a brand new, hard-wearing surface on a 2km length of carriageway in Grange next year.

These works will be carried out under a full road closure during the off-peak evening period from 6.30pm to 1am to minimise disruption to road users.

Resurfacing works are scheduled to start, subject to favourable weather conditions, on:

Monday January 11 - B5277 Grange to Lindale for up to 10 weeknights - the road will close in sections between the B5271 Windermere Road and B5277 Lindale Roundabout

Monday January 25 B5277 - Grange - the road will close from Cartmel Road to Carter Road for five nights

All dates are subject to change in the event of adverse weather. A signed diversion via the A590 and B5271 Windermere Road will operate during the temporary road closure and ‘business as usual’ signs will be in place.

Cllr Keith Little, Cumbria County Council’s Cabinet member for Highways, said: “This essential road maintenance work will replace worn-out sections of road with a new, hard-wearing surface, making journeys smoother and safer for drivers.

"We would ask drivers to plan ahead and allow extra time for journeys during this period.”
