CUMBRIA Fire and Rescue Service has sent out a reminder about Whirlpool tumble dryers.

The firm is recalling some of the tumble dryers sold under its Hotpoint, Indesit, Creda, Swan and Proline brands.

A spokesman said: "The fault is caused by excess fluff coming into contact with the heating element, which may cause the machine to set alight.

"Affected machines were made between April 2004 and September 2015.

"Anyone with an affected dryer must unplug it immediately and stop using it and contact the manufacturer as a matter of urgency.

According to Whirlpool "anyone with an unmodified dryer is entitled to a free replacement, a free modification, a refund based on the age of their appliance".
