Two former Barrow Island ARFLC players are set to face each other in the Super League Grand Final.

Morgan Knowles’ St Helens will be facing Brad Singleton’s Wigan Warriors in this evening’s final at Hull’s KCOM Stadium.

Both players hail from Barrow, in addition to Wigan Warriors’ assistant coach John Winder.

This week, Knowles was selected in the Super League Dream Team after the loose forward’s impressive season with Saints.

The 24-year-old is hoping to add to his 2019 Grand Final win.

Knowles said: “Everyone aims for a Grand Final at the start of the year and this is a nice end and something to look forward to after such a strange and difficult year.

The Mail:

“We have got the right two teams in the final. It is first versus second and I think it is a fitting end to the season that we have had.

“Good teams win Grand Finals but great teams keep doing it and back it up.

“That is something we definitely want to do.

“I want to be a player from those teams you talk about from years gone by, like the 2006 team.

“I want this group of players to be thought of up there with those teams.”

Friday’s game will add another instalment to the Good Friday Derby.

In October, the Warriors secured an 18-6 win over their fierce rivals.

Wigan’s Brad Singleton, who could win his third Grand Final tonight, is hoping that his side can repeat last month's result.

“I am looking forward to the game,” Singleton said.

“We played them three weeks ago and the intensity was so high so I am really excited about this.

The Mail:

“The Saints-Wigan derby is one of the biggest rivalries in the game.

“Obviously, I want to see this tough year off with another ring.”
