CORONAVIRUS cases in Cumbria increased by 57 over a 24 hour period, official figures show.
Public Health England figures show that 9,912 people had been confirmed as testing positive for Covid-19 by 9am on Tuesday in Cumbria, up from 9,855 the same time on Monday.
The rate of infection in Cumbria now stands at 1,982 cases per 100,000 people, far lower than the England average of 2,354.
Across the UK, the number of recorded cases increased by 11,299 over the period, to 1,538,794.
Cumbria's cases were among the 296,113 recorded across the North West, a figure which rose by 1,469 over the period.
Cumulative case counts include patients who are currently unwell, have recovered and those that have died.
