BEFORE and after pictures showing the results of a major clean up of streets in Barrow have been released.

Barrow Borough Council has taken the images after its Streetcare Team conducted a major clean up of several streets in the area, including Blake Street and Cook Street.

The council has issued a reminder to the public following the clean up:

•Putting out your bin – your bin can be put out from 12noon the day before your collection and must be returned to your property as soon as possible on the day of collection.

•Do not dump excess bags or other items in the backstreet.

A spokesman added: "For bulky household items that will not fit in your bin, arrange a £10 special collection by ringing 01229 876543 - it's cheaper than having to pay a fine.

"Help us to help you keep your area clean, any information relating to fly-tipping or people regularly putting black bags out can be sent to streetcare@barrowbc.gov.uk."

The Streetcare Team will be concentrating on the backstreets to the right of Rawlinson Street this week.
