A MAN has been fined after using abusive language towards a train staff member.

A 49-year-old man from Arnside was handed a 12-month conditional discharge and will have to pay £107 in costs and surcharge after he reportedly said to a staff member: "I hope you have cancer and die" at Lancaster station.

British Transport Police said that the man jumped over an eight metre fence and ran off after using the abusive language on September 21.
