Furness College sixth formers have used the Coronavirus pandemic as an inspiration.

The Covid-19 crisis prompted the students to produce a series of artwork.

Second year A level photography students from Barrow Sixth Form have produced a set of images for an exhibition at the Rating Lane campus.

The students were asked to portray their own experiences of the pandemic, which would be used to create a set of images.

Work ranged from self-portraits highlighting the virus’ mental health impact, routine disruption and the impact of time spent alone.

Rona Bisset’s images were entitled ‘how to fail in a global pandemic.’

These pictures underline her annoyance at people wearing face masks the wrong way.

Fellow student, Charlotte Dixon used her work to portray the mix of emotions people felt during the first lockdown.

Luke Smith took clippings from the newspapers and overlaid images to depict messages from the Government and media.

Subject Leader of Art and Design Nikki Conigliaro said: “It was a great way for the students to release some creative frustration when they came back to college in September and re-engage in practical work in our classroom setting.

“They were all happy to be back in a creative environment for the first time since March.”
