MILLOM Town Council are bringing festive cheer to the town with plans to light up the streets.

After Millom council was able to speak to their new local contractors West Lakes Electrical, it is hoped that the company will begin to start lining the streets with Christmas lights as soon as this week.

Not only will there be an addition of new lights brightening up the streets this year, there will also be a projector putting the festive touch on to the towns clocktower building.

The popular Christmas crib will be erected in Millom on Thursday at it's brand new location in front of the miner statue that is facing the clocktower in the towns market square.

According to the council, the crib has moved locations to allow for a real tree Christmas to take place its place in the square next to the clocktower.

It is hoped that Millom's Christmas tree will arrive by the end of the month.

The contractors are ready and on standby for the tree's arrival so that they are able to erect it as soon as it makes its arrival.

The Haverigg Christmas tree is due to be put up on Tuesday.
