A BIODIVERSITY grant has been launched for Kendal.
Kendal Town Council said the purpose of the grant was to help local communities to implement biodiversity projects.
These projects are currently supporting Kendal Town Council’s response following its declaration of a climate emergency in 2019.
Following the climate emergency announcement, Kendal Town Council began to adopt greener practices to reduce its impact.
This resulted in the town council commissioning a Citizens’ Jury to debate the question ‘What should Kendal do about Climate Change?’
The council said they were committed to implementing the Citizens’ Jury’s recommendations where it was possible.
Funding must benefit the local community and applicants will be expected to work with other funders and community organisations to maximise the grant’s benefit.
The fund will support up to a maximum of 50 per cent of total costs of projects, with grants ranging from £500 to £1,000.
Local charities, community interest companies and voluntary groups can apply for funding.
Application forms can be found on the Kendal Town Council website.
Forms must be submitted by 1pm on Monday 30th November and sent via email to Helen@kendaltowncouncil.gov.uk
