THE Salvation Army is urging anyone who needs support during the Christmas period to come forward.

The Salvation Army in Barrow is offering support for struggling families this Christmas who may need an extra helping hand.

A spokesman for The Salvation Army said: "We might not be able to open our building at the minute but we are working hard behind the scenes getting ready for our Christmas Present Appeal. "If you know anybody or any families in the area that might be struggling this Christmas, especially given the impact of COVID on people's income, they can be referred for support through local schools, statutory agencies, charities, voluntary and community groups or faith groups. "We are working alongside a range of other brilliant organisations who are part of the local resilience hubs such as Barrow Foodbank, Spring Mount Walney, Project John, Drop Zone Youth Projects, Barrow Borough Council, Cumbria County Council to make sure everyone can experience a little bit of love and joy this Christmas.
