THE number of fires attended by Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service (CFRS) fell by 27 per cent between September and October.
Figures posted to the CFRS Twitter page provided a snapshot of the work the county's fire crews performed.
The number of fires attended by the service last month was 86, down from 118 the month before.
The number of emergencies attended each month was, coincidentally, exactly the same, at 341.
61 smoke alarms were fitted in October while 952 home safety visits and 49 business safety visits were carried out.
