The UK’s oldest nuclear transport ship has sailed from Barrow for the last and final time.
Oceanic Pintail has been used as a nuclear transport ship for 33 years.
The ship was built in Japan.
However, it has been the flagship of the UK’s nuclear fleet.
Since 1987, Oceanic Pintail has been based at Barrow docks.
Pintail was used to carry nuclear cargoes to and from Sellafield.
It is now sailing to Leith in Scotland.
98 per cent of the vessel is due to be recycled.
