READERS came out in support after The Mail reported a mother was sent a video of her disabled son being bullied at school.

Joy Turnbull, from Ormsgill in Barrow, said she felt "helpless" when she was sent a Snapchat video of her 14-year-old son, Reece Davies, being "tormented" by his peers at Furness Academy.

Mrs Turnbull, a mum-of-four said: “I was sent a video of pupils trapping Reece’s leg underneath the arm of his chair so he was moving uncontrollably into the fence.

“They were all laughing at him and saying cruel things – it was awful to watch.”

Simon Laheney, head of the academy, said the incident had been dealt with.

The incident, which took place on October 22, was dealt with via restorative justice led by PC Paul Kelly.

Readers of The Mail came out in support of Reece after reading about the incident, giving messages of support.

Jessie Critch said: “Disgusting, bless him, no-one should go though this.

“Hope he’s ok, used to see him on the bus with his family – he’s a lovely, happy boy.”

Danielle Murphy said: “How can anyone go round bullying disabled people is beyond me and is utterly heartbreaking... I’m disabled myself and wouldn’t dream of bullying, never in a million years. I hope he’s ok.”

Susan Pennington added: “Hate bullying full stop, not only for disabled people but everyone.

“So hope that boy is ok and the people involved have been dealt with.”

Janice Palmer said: “One lovely lad, loved being a dinner lady at Ormsgill School looking after him.”

Kirsty Goulding added: “I was bullied at school, had no friends as I was sent to ‘Coventry’ on numerous occasions, but I dealt with it!

“But to do this to a lovely young disabled boy is absolutely despicable!”

Carole Mawson said: “My heart goes out to your son hun, he’s worth 10 of them, bless him.”

Barbara Park added: “A very brave young man.”

Josh Percy Purcell said: “Bullying is getting worse and worse."
