AFTER years of campaigning and hard work by local figures the A595 at Grizebeck is now to receive a £12.7m investment to upgrade the road.

The Mail has looked back at how these Cumbrian campaigners have got to this victorious moment. We will venture down memory lane to see some of the people who helped bring attention to the road’s need for change.

In 2013, the issues of the road became evident when a blockage was caused when two lorries attempted to get round a corner at the same time.

In 2014, the pupils Burlington Primary School joined the A595 action campaign to make the road safer.

In 2015, meetings were held at The Community Hall at Grizebeck for the A595 Action Group Campaign to upgrade A595 at Kirkby.
