FINALLY some good news.

The Tour of Britain is heading back to Cumbria in 2021. If previous years are anything to go by the world class event brings with it international TV coverage and a swarm of cycling enthusiasts.

The announcement that the event will feature at least one stage in our beautiful county is just the tonic needed after the difficulties of 2020.

Coronavirus has been challenging for everyone.

Big corporations and small independent businesses have all felt the brunt of the pandemic.

But knowing there is light at the end of the tunnel and with that light there maybe a boost in sales and footfall must be a reassuring message for local businesses.

But while looking to the future and past the pandemic is important we must remember the here and now.

Our local economy is struggling. Businesses are closing and people are losing their jobs.

If there is anything you can do to support our local economy now is the time do it.

If you can safely shop local and support local venues you are encouraged to do so.

If we all make small changes to support our local businesses we will be able to see them through to the other side of what has been a unprecedented and difficult time for all.
