THE latest coronavirus figures from NHS England showed there has been a further two deaths in University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay Trust this week.

A death was recorded on both October 19 and October 20 at the trust. This brought the total number of death at Morecambe Bay Trust up to 201 as of 5pm yesterday.

Barrow had a total of 197 confirmed Covid cases according to the updated weekly data from Gov.uk.

This number was down by one (0.5 per cent decrease) from the last recorded dataset, and slightly above the national average.

Cumbria as a whole has had 721 confirmed cases of Covid-19 which is an increase of 109 (17.8 per cent) according to Gov.uk.

NHS England guidance states: “Confirmation of Covid-19 diagnosis, death notification and reporting in central figures can take up to several days and the hospitals providing the data are under significant operational pressure.”

Only deaths that occur in hospitals where the patient has tested positive for Covid-19 are recorded, with deaths in the community excluded, such as those in care homes.
