A DRIVE-in firework display consisting of lasers, smoke and flames is set to make a bang in Barrow next month.

Laser Lights Alive is hosting a drive-in firework display for three nights in November to help ‘lift people’s mood’ during current coronavirus restrictions.

With an increasing number of firework displays being cancelled across the country, a new show which attendees can watch from their car is promised to be Covid-friendly.

The show will be held at Park Value Running Track on Walney for three nights on November 5, 6 and 7.

Since announcing the event, organisers have been inundated with ticket requests.

A spokesman for Laser Lights Alive said: “We are proud to be offering the local community a drive-in fireworks extravaganza. This display will be much different from anything you have seen before.This year not only will you see an amazing fireworks display, you will also get the benefit of having a laser show coupled up with smoke and flames.

“We are locals ourselves and are trying to give the local residents something special in these hard times.

“Be under no illusions this will be a show to watch and what better way of doing it than the comfort of your own car.

“We have set out three separate dates for this purely so we can keep the numbers smaller and people safe while trying to give as many people as we can an opportunity.

“Over anything peoples safety is our number one priority. There is no food being served at all and we feel it is best this way so nobody comes In to contact at all with anybody else. We have been asked about standing this is strictly forbidden and not allowed.”

Despite the event’s popularity, organisers said they have received some backlash about the upcoming show.

The spokesman said: “We have received a small amount of backlash from a few individuals and we would like to say the following: we have set this up for local residents to allow them to have some form of normality while adhering to the guidelines set out. With mental health and worry a massive thing of late, we know this will lift peoples mood.”
