South Lakeland District Council (SLDC) has announced a partnership with Green Small Business to offer a subsidised deal for firms to get environmental advice and certification.

The offer means that the first 20 South Lakeland Businesses to register will get a subsidised rate of £50, instead of £300, which will provide environmental advice and support in addition to 12 months Green Small Business certification.

Speaking about the launch, Councillor Dyan Jones, portfolio holder for Climate Change and Localism believes the partnership will promote environmental awareness amongst businesses.

She said: “Promoting environmental technologies and the green economy is an SLDC priority and we are delighted to support this offer, which will support more businesses to become increasingly energy efficient and environmentally aware.”

Councillor Robin Ashcroft, added: “Working with the environment in mind can actually enhance a business’s viability, profitability and attraction to customers, clients and partners.

“Businesses taking responsibility for their impact on the environment doesn’t have to be at the expense of the bottom line.

“These are uncertain times for many businesses, but South Lakeland District Council is committed to doing all we can to support them – promoting this scheme and facilitating this subsidised offer is one part of that.”
