A SELFLESS Dalton woman raised over £1,000 for charity after braving the shave.

Katie Keegan, 31, of Hall Street, works as a senior receptionist at Poole Townsend whilst also running her own business as a makeup artist.

She has been nominated by her client Jess Merrell for her 'amazing and brave' actions.

Back in September Katie completed the 'Brave the Shave' challenge, donating her both her hair and money to charity.

Jess said: "She had donated all her hair and which was so long and money she has raised in aid of the Macmillan Cancer Support.

"The reason she has done this is due to September 10 marking 10 years since her mother-in-law passed away after battling cancer for 10 years.

"She says she never had the chance of meeting her but wanted to do something special in her loving memory.

"She has raised over £1400 pounds through donations and a Brave the Shave giving page through social media and that total is still going up!

"I just think this is such an amazing and brave thing to do. It is so selfless.

"She is so inspiring. She says that hair is just hair but I think it’s a big part of your life so to take on the challenge is just so inspiring."
